The GEICO Gecko theatre series brings hugs and smiles to local students
WASHINGTON, December 3, 2014 – The GEICO Gecko greeted Prince George’s County students recently with hugs and high-fives at the latest performance of the GEICO Gecko Series at the Publick Playhouse in Cheverly, Maryland.
Supported by a GEICO Philanthropic Foundation grant, the musical theatre series is presenting one new show each month through May 2015, allowing more than 8,000 students to learn through theatre. Inspired by American history, children’s books, the fun side of math and science and more, the series’ eight plays are free for Prince George’s Country Title 1- Area 2 students.
Representatives from GEICO, the Prince George’s County Board of Education and County Commission, Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and the GEICO Gecko attended the show, “We the People,” where GEICO presented a check for $30,000 to the Publick Playhouse.
“Now in its fourth year, the series provides a place where Prince George’s County students can experience the theatre and have fun while learning,” said GEICO Senior Vice President Seth Ingall. “The GEICO Gecko will be at each and every performance entertaining the kids and getting them excited to learn.”
With performances at 10:15 a.m. and noon, the upcoming schedule is as follows:

- Tuesday, May 12, 2015: “Dog Loves Books”
